AC Voltage

Selection Guide
M220-V1 Single phase
M220-V33 Three Phase Three Wire
M220-V34 Three Phase Four Wire

Description
The M220 Ac voltage relay provides voltage monitoring and protection in both single and 3 phase systems. Used in applications such as mains failure, regulation of power supplies and to protect voltage sensitive equipment, the relay protects against both under and over voltage conditions and operates when the externally adjustable trip points are reached. Either a differential or time delay adjustment is available, depending on the model. The differential control provides adjustment from 1- 15% which ensures that the parameter being measured returns to a percentage above or below the trip point before the relay returns to its original state. Time delay is adjustable from 100mS to 10S. The M220 voltage relay also features phase sequence detection, protecting against phase reversal.

Operation
When the signal being measured is between the over and under set points the relay is energised and both fault indicator LEDs are green. If the signal increases past the over set point, or decreases below the under set point, the relay will de-energise and the appropriate fault LED will change to red. If an incorrect phase sequence is detected both fault LEDs will flash red.

Power Supply
The voltage relays monitor their own power supply so auxiliary power is not necessary. A green LED indicates a supply is present. The relays feature an adjustable power supply, allowing flexible selection of the connected nominal voltage.

Two ranges are Available when ordering:
1. 110V - 120V - 208V - 230V - 240V - 277V
2. 380V - 400V - 415V - 440V - 460V - 480V

Each range provides 6 common supply voltages for selection.

Frequency

Selection Guide
M220-F1 Single phase

Description
The M220 series frequency relays are designed to monitor the frequency of a system, if the frequency deviates outside the customer adjustable preset limits the relay will operate. The user is provided with adjustment of both the trip point of frequency being monitored and a differential / time delay adjustment (depending on model).

Operation
When the frequency being measured is between the over and under set points the relay is energised and both fault indicator LEDs are green. If the signal increases past the over set point, or decreases below the under set point, the relay will de-energise and the appropriate fault LED will change to red.

Power Supply
The frequency relays monitor their own power supply so auxiliary power is not necessary. A green LED indicates a supply is present.

The relays feature a power supply with a wide input range, operating on supplies from 110V to 480V, and is available to order in three standard ranges:

1. 50Hz (40Hz to 50Hz Under, 50Hz to 60Hz over).
2. 60Hz (50Hz to 60Hz Under, 60Hz to 70Hz over).
3. 400Hz (360Hz to 400Hz Under, 400Hz to 440Hz over).

Custom ranges are also available on request.

Phase Balance

Selection Guide
M220-PBS Three Phase Three Wire

Description
The M220-PBS can detect the following conditions in 3 phase 3 wire system: Phase Unbalance, Phase Loss, Phase reversal, Phase Sequence, and Symmetrical under voltage. The M220-PBS is used to detect phase loss and unbalance in a system using motors, generators, heater elements, transformers etc. A phase unbalance as small as 10% in a 3 phase motor can cause the temperature in the motor winding to increase by more than 120%, but correct setting of the M220-PBS will ensure this does not occur. Protection against open phase regenerated voltage, created if a single phase should fail, is also provided. Customer adjustment of the unbalanced voltage from 5% to 15% is provided along with time delay adjustment of 100mS to 10S. The M220-PBS has the additional benefit of having symmetrical under voltage protection. This means that if all 3 phase voltages remain balanced, but drop below a preset voltage, the relay will de-energise. The under voltage is externally set from 90% below the nominal voltage, to 70% below the nominal voltage.

Operation
All LEDs will be green when the percentage unbalance measured is below the unbalance set point, and all three phase voltages are above the symmetrical under voltage set point. If the unbalance measured is above the set point the unbalance LED will turn to red and the relay will de-energise. If the symmetrical under voltage is blow the set point, the under voltage LED will turn to red, and the relay will de-energise.

The following voltages are selectable from the front panel:

110V / 120V / 208V / 230V / 240V
277V / 380V / 400V / 415V / 480V
